You know my other least favorite thing, though.

It’s books that are WOW MY ACQUAINTANCE/FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER IS GAY/BI/TRANS HOW DO I DEAL WITH THIS.

I do not fucking care how you deal with it.

I might care how they deal with it.

    But not

    you.

  2. queerlitsuperhero:

if your first solution while searching for a plot for your female character is to say HEY LET’S MAKE HER STRUGGLE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN BOYS, i need you to do me a favor

    • remove your hands from the keyboard/pen/pencil
    • back away from the computer/paper/other media
    • take a walk
    • during that walk realize women can do more than have boyfriends

I know there are no plans to introduce Mycroft Holmes on Elementary, but my headcanon for elementary!verse is Miranda Hart.

Mycroft works at the British Embassy in New York.

She and Sherlock actually get on rather well (ACD canon nod) for the most part, and he’ll turn up at her office when he’s got a particularly difficult case just so he can have someone even more debilitatingly intelligent than himself to use as a sounding board.

Mycroft actually studied classical voice for a short time at conservatory (she’s a mezzo-soprano) but wasn’t terribly fond of practicing (hey, Sherlock had to get his disdain for slightly-off-key performances SOMEWHERE.)

She’s happy that her little brother has a sober companion, though she resents their father stepping in like that.

Mycroft likes to handle that kind of thing herself. Especially if said companion is as attractive as Joan Watson.

  4. "In order to recognize that people can and do rely on multiple people to perform different functions in their lives, and that these people and functions can shift over time, family law would have to go well beyond proposals permitting individuals to name one designated friend or even a spouse plus a best friend. For example, one relatively aggressive approach would gather all of the benefits, default rules, and obligations attaching to marriage and permit individuals to assign some or all of those forms of legal support to the individuals of their choice. For example, an individual could choose for default property division rules to apply to the person with whom they are living, joint health insurance benefits to be shared with a noncohabitating friend or lover, hospital visitation rights to be given to yet another person, and protections under the FMLA to be available to care for a sibling."

Laura A. Rosenbury, Friends With Benefits? (2007)

This would make my life a lot easier.

I really just want to make a story about fantasy worlds that continue to advance at a technologically consistent rate so like, not urban fantasy which tends to have that “it’s now but there’s a ton of stuff U DON’T KNOW ABOUT” but like, Motorcycle gang dwarves and fashion model elves and wizards of high finance and like everyone standing around a water-cooler and they’re like-

“Who do you think you’re going to vote for this year? I mean King Shelmeth has a birthmark and a prophesy but he’s really strict about goblin immigration and Xarthon the Brave has that magic sword with the crown all on it and stuff but his taxation policies really leave something to desire, you know? And I just don’t know if either of them are really in touch with the fight for ghost rights, you know?”

And they all just sort of nod and mumble and the centaur stamps his hoof but then their boss walks by and they all pretend to be really busy with the copy machine.

  8. Please cut, warn, or otherwise let me know any suicide related images are coming.

I’ve sort of calmed down now, and I know there was a reason for using it, but I’ve seen that ace-secret at least three times now and I’m still shaking. Dammit.

About me

I'm another genderqueer asexual trans guy who lurks on tumblr often enough to get one. You'll see a lot about writing, some about sexuality and gender, and a lot about the publishing industry here, with occasional asides into fandom, mythology, and whatever else happens to strike my fancy. Tamora Pierce's work and the Arthurian Legends are probably my two biggest fandoms just now.

I'm kind of shy and it may take me a little while to answer/warm up to you, but I really do encourage any questions/errant thoughts/call outs you may want to put in my ask. I try to keep this a relatively safe space, so if you need any trigger warnings, let me know.
